Vocalist Maria Tiscia from Stamford, CT is Rio Bound

From Alexis: I met Maria years ago on the local Westchester, NY/Western CT jazz scene. She's a beautiful singer whose work I've always appreciated. She studied with me briefly which was a big thrill, since I love her singing!

Vocalist Maria Tiscia spent her formative years performing in TV and radio commercials with the late Don Elliot. Through her association with Elliot she had the privilege of working on work tracks for movie scores and projects for Quincy Jones. She currently performs in the tri-state area with her partner, David Oliver, and many of the best musicians the New York and Connecticut area has to offer. She and her band (RIO BOUND) have opened for Grammy Award Winner, Dianne Reeves.

When I first discovered that Alexis had created a website for jazz singers, I was intrigued. The timing couldn’t have been more perfect. This all happened during the pandemic when we were all house bound. I had plenty of time to check it out. I was so impressed after viewing the site and taking some of the Master Classes that I had to become a member. A singer can never be stagnant. You have to keep learning and growing. This website is such a fabulous tool. It keeps you updated, motivated and striving. Thanks so very much Alexis. Oh – did I mention that I studied privately with Alexis a year before she designed this website. She’s a marvelous teacher and friend.
