Our Origin Story

JazzVoice.com was started in May 2020.  It was a few months after the Coronavirus pandemic started, and I was at my cabin alone, and getting tired of making how-to videos and learning random handywoman skills like plumbing and wood splitting.

I teach at SUNY Purchase, and all of our classes had gone online.  I discovered that online learning for voice instruction far exceeded my expectations.  I realized that all my friends had also had to adopt online teaching, and I came up with the idea that we should all offer our teaching to people around the world on one platform.

Soon after, it evolved into a membership based service, offering classes for one low membership fee, and that's when it really got fun.  Being isolated, but seeing people on a weekly basis from all over the world, was really amazing.  And having some of my favorite singers and educators on to talk about what we love was so cool and really was a game changer for me and many other people in the heart of the pandemic.

Now with vaccination, the pandemic isn't keeping us as isolated as before, but the power of online education has taken hold, and is here to stay. We're glad you're with us!
